GS Connect provides provides electric vehicle charging services at large-scale facilities such as universities, and hospitals as well as at apartments in Korea.
Finding EV charging stations can be difficult due to the lack of a centralized and up-to-date database of charging station locations and availability. This can lead to frustration and wasted time searching for a charging station that may not even be operational or available. To address these issues, GS Connect decided to revamp their outdated EV Charger app by leveraging cloud infrastructure to provide accurate, real-time information to users. This new approach replaces the old monolithic application and improves the user experience by providing more up-to-date and reliable information on EV charging stations.
Our design team collaborated with the project team and conducted a series of workshops and customer research to identify pain points experienced by EV owners when charging their cars. Based on these insights, we improved the user experience by simplifying the onboarding process, making it easier to locate and pay for charging stations, and creating a simple and intuitive design. To ensure cross-platform compatibility, our front-end engineers used Flutter to develop the new app for both iOS and Android. Meanwhile, the client's engineering team focused on refactoring the backend system to migrate to AWS and provide a REST API for our front-end team to integrate with.
